BIF EP-209 is a two-component virtually solvent free epoxy floor coating. BIF EP-209 provides a tough, hard wearing coating for medium duty traffic giving high film build and wear resistance. Appearance Clear gloss finish. BIF EP-209 is not 100% colour fast and may yellow over time. The rate of change will depend on UV light and heat levels and cannot be predicted. This does not compromise the product’s performance.

Colours: clear
  • Typical Uses

As a seal coat on decorative quartz & flake decorated flooring systems, or as a transparent floor seal direct to concrete.

  • Thickness

    Approximately 250 microns per coat.

  • Application

For best results, substrate and air temperature should be in the range 15 °C to 25 °C. Localised heating or cooling equipment may be required outside this range to achieve ideal temperature conditions. To reduce the risk of “blooming” caused by condensation, the climate above the uncured floor should be maintained at least 3 °C above the dew point for at least 48 hours after application.

The surface to be coated must be clean, dry and free from oil, grease and loose material or any other contamination that may impair adhesion or wetting out. When applied to a smooth resin finish, it is possible that BIF EP-209 may reticulate or fish-eye doe to surface tension. Lightly abrading the surface followed by solvent wiping may cure this problem. If in doubt, apply a trial area of the system before specifying. Mixing Materials should be stored at 15 C to 25 C for a minimum of 8 hours prior to use. Add the hardener component to the coloured resin component and mix using a low speed electric mixer (200 - 500 rpm) for at least 3 minutes until homogeneous. Keep the mixing head fully submerged to avoid air entrainment. Use a spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing vessel several times as unmixed material will result in uncured patches in the final finish.

Apply with a medium pile simulated sheepskin roller working well into the surface taking care not to exceed the coverage rate. Edges and difficult to reach areas may be applied thinly by brush. Plan the work area to maintain a wet edge and work within the working time of the material.
